Volunteering involves people doing unpaid work in their own leisure time using their energy, skills and often their money because it gives them satisfaction. Everyday new initiatives are started and registered with the aim of earning a living, changing lives and improving the livelihoods of other Ugandans. It is noted that over 80% of these initiatives fail due to the lack of experience, resources and trainings to survive. The limited number of skilled personnel to support these initiatives is very low or aren’t available leading to slow startups and increased unemployment levels. The Volunteers Fellowship is an all-skilled persons program designed to support local initiatives with tools and resources they need to better and sustain their communities. This increases their opportunities and engagements by enhancing capacity building, mentoring leaders and leveraging the influence built through international and national networks. To champion Africa’s initiatives, skilled personnel (fellows) are placed in organizations, institutions and companies from different fields focusing on the development of Businesses, Education sectors, Health care, Agriculture, Organizations capacity, among others for a specified period of time. The program also encompasses internship opportunities for international students with placements in different sectors of their interest.
Main Goal
To support new and young initiatives through the placement of skilled, experienced and resourceful personnel to bring about sustainability.
