The YALI Health Network is a partnership of Mandela Washington Fellows (YALI Fellows) organizations working towards the prevention, education, treatment and advocacy of health related issues like HIV/AIDS, Cancer, Malaria, Non-communicable diseases, Sexual Reproductive Health, Nutrition, Mental Health, and Maternal Health Care that are affecting Africa’s future. We aim at creating awareness and promoting Healthy Living among the youth between 10 – 35 years. We focus on conducting Youth AIDS Walks, Health Camps, Empowerment training youth to lead and champion Africa’s health and organize Young Health Leaders Conferences. Our partnerships with Community Health Centers/Hospitals enables youth acquire youth friendly services together with consultancy.
Health camps that tackle different diseases and health issues like HIV/AIDS, Cancer, Malaria, Sexual Reproductive Health, Blood testing and donation, Testing for diabetes, among others. These also involve training in how to use different health materials and access to information for most especially youth.
AIDS Walks that bring together the general public most especially the youth to raise awareness on HIV, disclose their status, conduct massive HIV testing, fundraize community mobile ambulances, attain HIV/AIDS Goodwill Ambassadors, street theater and training in HIV education as well as Sexual Reproductive Health dialogues.
Young Health Leaders empowerment training: These are conducted in schools, communities, and health centers to empower youth to become advocates to influence health policies to access youth friendly services. We acquire health champions to tackle different health issues affecting youth as well as key informants.
Conference for Young Health Leaders: Through these conferences, we get to discuss the different health issues that are affecting youth and new strategies that we can use to overcome these problems.
