The very essence of leadership is that you have to have vision. You can’t blow an uncertain trumpet. – Theodore M. Hesburgh
“I’m a senior student’s leader at Glory Land Christian College, Jinja district, I didn’t take any leadership trainings to become a leader or even hold this position. I never learnt how to manage people, I just wanted something different for the students in my school. Being a prefect at the school led me to the youth council in my community as well as a member and leader of The Haven Club at the school. My moment rose when I realized that young people wanted to become leaders within their communities. This inspired me to engage other youth in The Haven Club to teach them a few things I knew. As a youth leader, we drafted a leadership plan with the help of Habitation for Empowerment Network under its #BeyondTalks and #PeerCorps program, then we went to work to make it happen. Now we are a group of 15 youth within and outside school that are Peer Corps of the organization. As Peer Corps, we are key informants, educators, and implementers of Sexual Reproductive Health and HIV prevention strategies to eliminate new HIV infections among the youth today”.
Peter is a senior student with different leadership position on the school cabinet and The Haven Club of Glory land Christian College. #MyStoryMyVoice#HavenFoundation #YoungLeadersUg #HIVFreeGen #Storiesworthsharing #VoicesofChange
